Natalie and Samantha Mwedekeli, Sisters born to Nigerian and Kenyan parents in the cultural melting-pot that is London. From their mother’s hot peppe stews, grandmother's obsession with Nollywood movies and stories she shared of hanging with Fela Kuti’s mother in Abeokuta to the diverse Pan- African cuisines easily available in London, their culturally blended identity is a big influence on the adventurous Mama Rocks menu and brand.

In 2015, they made a bold leap, leaving behind their corporate careers to chase a vision: celebrating the vibrancy and unity of Africa through food. Their journey began in a London burger joint, widely regarded as one of the best independents, where they honed their skills under the mentorship of the owner.

During late nights and days off, Mama Rocks was born in spirit, with Natalie and Samantha experimenting with recipes and crafting their brand concept. Their dream took shape in January 2016 with the opening of Mama Rocks Gourmet Burgers, a food truck in Nairobi, Kenya, offering a truly African twist on the classic burger. Eight years and five brick and mortar branches later, the sisters are ready to bring their African burger sensation full circle, introducing London to the unforgettable flavors of Mama Rocks.

As black female founders we aim to show the African narrative in a positive light sharing our culture through something familiar to all, the humble burger. We like to sing along to old school afrobeats, two-step to South African house and of course gnam good food.
